I entered the hospital for gallbladder surgery. I decided to have it done to avoid future complications since I traveled frequently. It was supposed to be a simple laparoscopic procedure. The night before the surgery, I had a strange feeling of danger and tried to leave the hospital. But security stopped me and called my family. They convinced me to stay.
The next day, I remember being taken to the operating room. The anesthesia began, and I fell asleep. Soon afterwards, I started seeing chaos in the operating room. I was floating above my body and watching the doctors in a panic. They had injected me with a substance to wake me up faster, but it caused pulmonary edema. I couldn’t breathe. Blood was coming from the fresh surgical wounds and my mouth when I coughed. I was outside my body and watching everything calmly while floating in an empty space. I could perceive what was happening with my family, the doctors, and even hear nurses talking outside.
Suddenly, a voice asked me if I wanted to leave or stay. I began seeing images of my life and felt satisfied. Although, I knew my family would miss me. Still, I decided to leave and return to my body.
As soon as the thought of leaving came, the same voice said, 'Your next mission is...' Then, confusion and anguish set in. I wondered, what is the mission in this life? I still don’t know! Why leave if I have to start over?
I thought I would enter paradise, but nothing could be further from the truth.
The moment I decided to return, despite knowing my body was badly damaged, I opened my eyes and was back inside my body. I remained calm because I had always seen what was happening. I knew I would return to the chaos of the operating room; coughing blood and fighting for my life. Still, I never panicked.
