Experience Description
My father, who I was extremely close to, died by suicide in late January 2023. I missed his text message that night telling me he was going into the garage. My phone was on "do not disturb" mode, so I did not see the message until I was going to bed. It showed me a notification that said, "while you were in focus mode," and I saw a message from my dad.
As we had been arguing in the weeks leading up to his death, I found the message strange. I read it and immediately called the police to do a welfare check. An ambulance was also sent. I received the news when two police officers came to my house an hour later.
I cried every single day. I would wake up in the middle of the night and cry. I was totally inconsolable. Then I had three separate dreams over the course of several weeks.
My biggest question was how long it took him to die, because all I could picture was him hanging there in pain and regretting his choice. No one could give me a definite answer, and there was conflicting information online. I asked police, doctors, and psychologists, and they all said different things.
My first dream was me watching my dad. It was the exact spot that we know he did it, on the exact beam. He started off facing the garage door, which I found weird. He was in a shirt and underwear, which I later had confirmed. He spun around at speed and actually had a heart attack immediately. The coroner did not do a full autopsy, so this could not be confirmed. When he stopped spinning, he was facing the garage door again, which was also later confirmed. I could see exactly where the rope was, and his head was on an angle. I finally had this confirmed when we got the full coroner's report eight months later.
The next dream was short and strange. He literally scooped me up out of my bed, took me outside to the pavement, and dropped me. Just as I was about to hit the hard pavement, he scooped me up to save me. I have no idea what the meaning of that is.
The third and most profound dream: he actually came and got me again and took me to where he was in the afterlife. We were both balls of intense light, different colors like I have never seen before. We circled around and around and communicated telepathically. It was so nice; it was all love. I was at complete peace. I could see that where he was now is a much better place than earth. Time just did not exist. He told me telepathically how ridiculous I was being for crying every day, as we are going to see each other so soon. I knew this to be true while I was there. I was, what I feel like, "reminded" from having been in the afterlife before I came here, that 80 years is like five seconds there. So I was comforted by being reminded that time goes so quickly and we will be back together so soon, where I will also be happier because I am there.
For the first time, I did not cry for a week after that dream.
I have only had a couple of dreams about him since. He has shown me signs of the afterlife on many occasions. But the dream was like a near-death experience without any medical issues.
